Yesterday afternoon, Buffalo Bills Tight End Kevin Everett suffered spinal injury during a second half kickoff against the Denver Broncos. Everett went down immediately as he tried to tackle Domenik Hixon, going limp from the impact. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency spinal surgery to relieve pressure on his spine. He is currently still in grave condition, and his injury at this point is still life threatening.
My heart and prayers go out to Everett and his family, as doctors do not think he has a good shot at walking again. Being a football player myself, this is extremely frightening, and brings to the forefront of players minds that play this game on all levels that your entire life can change in one play.
Much like his doctor, I am an eternal optimist and think if he has any shot at all that he can do it. I pray that he can so he can lead a normal life, even if it is away from the NFL.
